dc.description.abstracten	In the present essay, we elected as the core of our discussion the public museums of municipal administrative character that is, Brazilian municipal museums. It is a general overview of the aspects, the main characteristics of these museums – their number in Brazil, typologies of collections, physical structures, etc. As well as the designation and the definition of the limits and differences between the other types of museums. We also tried to clarify the actions and the public policies of patrimony preservations and the strategies used by museums from 1930 to 2015, verifying how the municipal museums are benefited by the policies and governmental actions. By studying the Municipal Museum of Carangola, we also analyzed the role of municipal museums along with the local residents, in the process of the strengthening of identities and the valorization of the local memory. The main objective of this research was to identify and analyze the relationship between the population of Carangola with the museum, trying to understand how they participate, value and recognize the institution as their own space of memory and identity. The methodology used to conduct the studies was based on a bibliographic research together with documentary research and the application of surveys. As a result, we can claim that the actions of public policies offered to the sector have been taken effect in the last few years, however, in a slow pace and also distant from the reality of the Brazilian municipal museums. We can also affirm that, although the community of Carangola recognize the municipal museum as an important place of preservation and local memory, they are not integrated to it and do not identify the museum as their own space, of their history and memory.	pt_BR

dc.description.abstractpt	A presente Dissertação tem como centro de discussão os museus públicos de natureza administrativa municipal, ou seja, os Museus Municipais brasileiros. Trata-se de um panorama geral dos aspectos e principais características destes museus - quantidade de museus no Brasil, tipologias de acervo, estrutura física, etc. Assim como, a designação e definição dos limites e as diferenças entre outros modelos de museus. Explicita-se ainda, as ações e políticas públicas de preservação do patrimônio e de políticas para museus, desde os anos 1930 até 2015, verificando como são contemplados os museus municipais brasileiros nas políticas e ações governamentais. A partir do estudo do Museu Municipal de Carangola, foi analisado, ainda, o papel dos Museus Municipais junto aos moradores da cidade de Carangola, no processo de fortalecimento de identidades e valorização da memória local. O objetivo principal da pesquisa foi identificar e analisar a relação da população carangolense com o museu, buscando entender como essa participa, valoriza e reconhece a instituição como um espaço seu, de memória e identidade. A metodologia utilizada para a realização do estudo, pautou-se em uma pesquisa bibliográfica, acrescida de pesquisa documental e da aplicação de questionário-Survey. Como resultados, é possível afirmar que as ações das políticas públicas propostas para o setor vêm sendo efetivadas nos últimos anos, contudo, de forma lenta e ainda distante da realidade em que se encontram os museus municipais brasileiros. E também, que a comunidade carangolense, apesar de reconhecer o Museu Municipal de Carangola como um espaço importante de preservação e memória local, não está integrada a ele e não o identifica como um espaço seu, de sua história e memória.	pt_BR
