dc.description.abstracten	This thesis brings as its theme the Brazilian Observatories, scientific heritage, their architecture and functionality, with a time frame of the midnineteenth century and early twentieth century. The main objective was to survey and identify the Observatories existing in Brazil in this period, their architecture and function, to later analyze the current situation regarding the preservation of this important scientific heritage and possible proposals for the musealization of these spaces. The initial parameters are the existing models of observatories built in the period, so that we can later analyze the construction projects of Brazilian observatories. Since this is a project that covers the entire national territory, a larger number of observatories were found than the initial research showed, and in three distinct categories of observatories: institutional, school, and private. This set was organized by regions where there were observatories, being the southeast and center west region, the south region and the northeast region, highlighting the states and cities where they were built. The research shows what was built and what was demolished in an average period of eighty years. As far as possible, some of the scientific work that was done in these places during the period in which they functioned was also surveyed. At the end, an analysis was made within the scope of Museology and Preservation for the institutions that were demolished and for the remaining ones that were not musealized, aiming at better preservation and functioning as places of memory.	pt_BR

dc.description.abstractpt	Esta tese traz como tema os Observatórios do Brasil, patrimônio científico, sua arquitetura e funcionalidades, tendo como recorte temporal o período de meados do século XIX e início do XX. O Objetivo principal era levantar e identificar os Observatórios existentes no Brasil nesse período, sua arquitetura e função, para posteriormente analisar a situação atual acerca da preservação desse importante patrimônio científico e possíveis propostas para a musealização desses espaços. Os parâmetros iniciais, são os modelos de observatórios construídos no período, existentes para posteriormente analisarmos os projetos de construção dos observatórios brasileiros. Por tratar de um projeto que abrange todo o território nacional, foram encontrados um número maior de observatórios do que a pesquisa inicial mostrou e em três categorias distintas de observatórios, os institucionais, os escolares e os particulares. Esse conjunto foi organizado por regiões onde haviam observatórios, sendo ela a região sudeste e centro oeste, a região sul e a região nordeste, destacando os estados e as cidades que eles foram construídos. A pesquisa mostra o que foi construído e o que foi demolido num período médio de oitenta anos. Na medida do possível, também levantou-se alguns dos os trabalhos que foram efetuados de natureza científica, nesses lugares, durante o período em que funcionaram. Ao final, foi feito uma análise para no âmbito de Museologia e da Preservação para as instituições que foram demolidas e para as remanescentes e que não foram musealizadas, visando melhor preservação e funcionamento enquanto lugares de memória.	pt_BR
